I recently learned of a blogging event happening called 31 days of …… that began at the start of October. As is customary with my habits, I’m late in getting started but who cares. I’m giving it a go anyway in order to 1. learn to write shorter posts so I can keep writing and not take a week to do it and 2. God has been teaching me some new things and I want to turn it into a new thought pattern.
That’s pretty much the only expectations I’m setting for myself.
Here’s my theme: 31 days of finding my identity in Christ.
“Let me dwell in your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!
For you, O God, have heard my vows;
you have given me the heritage of
those who fear your name.”
Security comes from the Lord. I have been given a free gift of being called a daughter of God — a new heritage. Security does not come from my husband or from my daughter. Being needed or accepted by them doesn’t give me purpose in life. My security is set in Jesus Christ alone as the provider of true, abundant life and out of that security — that nothing I do can make me more or less acceptable to God or loved by him — I can serve and love my husband and daughter free of expectations and need for something in return. THEN I can see the reality of their presence in my life as a blessing I do not deserve and worship the Giver of all gifts.
